Crust Bros - From Markets to the West End with Salvo 1968

For more than 50 years, Salvo 1968 has proudly supported businesses across the UK, delivering expert advice, dependable service, and top-quality Italian ingredients.

Many of our partners have grown with us over time - and one of the most inspiring examples of that journey is our longstanding relationship with Crust Bros, a brand that’s risen from London’s street food scene to become an award-winning name in the West End.

The Crust Bros Journey

Crust Bros began their story in 2014 with a humble wood-fired trailer serving Neapolitan pizza. Their signature leopard-spotted crusts and no-fuss, quality-first toppings quickly won over Londoners, proving that pizza made with care - and the right ingredients - never goes unnoticed.

Their early success on the market and festival circuit laid the foundation for something more permanent. In 2017, Crust Bros opened their first bricks-and-mortar location in Waterloo, bringing their big crusted, leopard print crust pizzas and fully customisable menu to a dedicated fanbase. The response confirmed what they already knew: this was just the beginning.

A Slice of the West End

Fast forward to July 2025, and Crust Bros took their boldest step yet with the opening of their flagship site in Covent Garden. Set across two floors and rich with restored period features, the space is made for pre-theatre diners, groups, and pizza lovers looking for something special. More than just a new location, this opening marked a new chapter - a reflection of how far the brand has come and how central Salvo 1968 has been to that journey.

Building a Digital Following

Crust Bros don’t just serve incredible pizza - they’ve built a community around it. With more than 60,000 followers on Instagram (@crustbros), their playful, passionate energy comes through in every post. From leopard-print crusts and creative toppings to behind-the-scenes peeks at their three London locations - Waterloo, Covent Garden and Earl’s Court - their online presence amplifies the same experience customers enjoy in person.

A Partnership That Delivers

At the heart of Crust Bros' growth is a partnership grounded in trust. For the past eight years, Salvo 1968 has supplied them with the essentials - flour, cheese, and meats - all chosen for their quality and consistency. But this relationship goes beyond logistics. It’s collaborative, from sharing knowledge on portioning and yield, to travelling together to Naples and visiting Molino Dallagiovanna in Northern Italy.

In the Words of Joe Moore

Joe Moore, Founder of Crust Bros:

“I started my street food pizza business 11 years ago across some of London’s best markets, festivals and events. I was introduced to Sav at Salvo 8 years ago and I’ve worked together with him and the team at Salvo ever since. They’re a key partner for us across Meat, cheese and flour and are our go to experts when we need anything more in between and we use them in our award winning Waterloo, Covent Garden and West Brompton pizzerias. We’ve even been to Naples and to their molino flour factory in Northern Italy with them to meet the suppliers in person. I couldn’t recommend them highly enough.”
